Happiness is yours for the taking, so reach out and grab it by the rear end.

Beneath the lush, golden sky symbolizing the world’s ambiance, a nostalgic haze looms across the terrain. Staring at the stunning display, your eyes wander to a sign, peering beneath a bed of roses.

Anxious to see what is written on the unusual emblem, you move closer. Then, from out of nowhere the words appear: Welcome to the Real World 2007 Graduates.

Smiling broadly, your mind focuses on what those words really mean. Then you realize that it means you have officially left Planet Teendom, and you are now an adult.

Graduating also means you are free to pursue your dreams and aspirations. As well as create your destiny and begin a great career. Likewise, you can now make a bonafide contribution to the world, where you can have a major impact.

But most of all, you are free to LOVE, CREATE, INSPIRE, CAPTIVATE, EXPLORE, CHALLENGE, DISCOVER, ENCOURAGE and become the best you possible.

And in reaching this venue, there is a secret that will enable you to ride the tidal wave of this transition, smoothly, and without complications. That is: ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT AS AN ADULT YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE. SO LIVE EVERDAY AS IF IT IS YOUR LAST.

Adding to those words of wisdom are these seven tidbits, which I hope serve you as well as they have served me over the years.

1. If you are unhappy about your life, stop whining. Instead, do something to make it more joyous and less stressful.

2. Mind your own business and stay the heck out of everyone else’s.

3. Don’t take directions, give directions.

4. Believe none of what you hear, half of what you see, and try like crazy to unravel the truth.

5. Think success. Think happiness. Think prosperity and forget the rest of the bull crap.

6. Life is a trip, therefore, make yours a fabulous safari with no excess baggage attached. Therefore, stand tall, radiate confidence and showcase your brilliance.

7. Revel in your fabulous decorum, and REFUSE to let anyone or anything destroy your dreams and aspirations.

That 2007 graduates, is my advice to you. So, Welcome Aboard and Enjoy the Ride!

Good advice, well put for the most part. Except for all the CAPS lock shouting its way through. Bold or highlighted items work better. I would leave out words like bullcrap and references to the rear end of anyone if I wanted to be respected for my Motivational writing.....

Hi: Thanks for the kind comments. As for the motivational writing observation, in real life I am a freelance writer who has written on every topic from abestos to zoology. I am primarily a journalist, who specialize in writing about race, culture, and controversial issues. I wrote this article in lieu of an assigment for Searcwarp.com and nothing more. Granted, I am a huge believer in motivation, and leave that to the writers who specialize in that genre. Best Wishes

Something I have noticed: College was a safe place. Actually following thsoe dreams is a little intimidating and mom and dad aren't right there nagging you to do things. Yes, welcome to reality. Good article.

Grace: Your comments made my day, as well as made me smile. Ah, college, I remember those days fondly. Geesh, I long for those care free days, where the only thing I had to worry about was passing tests and deciding what courses to take. Best Wishes

Peggy, excellent article and sound advice! I have longed for those carefree days of student life many times. What helps is my two off-campus roommates and I are in constant contact. We will reminisce about things and laugh at "the way we were." Those were the good ole days. Now, we're making new 'good ole days.' Keep up the great writing you share with us. Thanks for that!

Again Ms. Ward, you have outdone yourself with your heart felt remarks. By the way, I would like to take the opportunity to present you with the Certificate of Literary Merit Award, courtsey of the article, "Dear Class of 2007." Great advice! Best Wishes Peggy Butler
